Interview Questions & Answers
What got you interested in running for county recorder?
I have been a lifelong Republican. While campaigning for Trump locally, a group headed up by Graig Dominic a Republican activist encouraged me to run for Precinct committee person in my neighborhood. I was elected and while attending Trumbull County committee meetings I was appointed to the Trumbull County Republican executive committee. I am a very active Christian and attend church regularly and it was discussed that people with Christian values such as pro-life, pro-parents, pro-children, smaller government should get involved and run for public office. After my once thriving company took a major downturn under Bidenomics, and the overreach of government through the pandemic, I knew I needed to get involved in government. With my degree and my experience, the Recorders office was a perfect place to start.
What are some of the challenges you feel the recorder position will face in 2025?
Making sure internal controls are developed and implemented. In this technological age we are seeing ongoing security threats and technology breaches. As we just saw when the Trumbull County Auditor’s office transferred over $100,000 of taxpayer money to a cyber hacker. Hackers are stealing citizens property with fake deeds. A state law was just passed that requires all counties must have online access by 2026. Information will have to be redacted to avoid identity theft. Budget challenges may very well be an issue in 2025 as our economy continues to struggle and our current county officials are facing high dollar lawsuits.
How will you improve public engagement with the position?
I want to make sure the office is accessible to the public. The demands on working class citizens such as myself, continues to increase as folks are working long hours and sometimes two or more jobs just to make ends meet. I would increase office hours 2 days a week until 6pm to accommodate the public. I would do this by staggering workers hours to not increase payroll. I would like to spend more time observing and measuring the level of engagement, I would also like to hold informative seminars, meetings, and meet and greet type of events to connect the office with the community and educate them on our services and technology offerings. Help make citizens aware of property theft concerns and red flags to watch for.
Elaborate upon your third priority — you mentioned “utilizing and streamlining” e-filing, how would you go about doing it?
I would not reinvent the wheel on this. I would seek out other offices around the state of Ohio to see what best practices they have in place, and if there is a model that we can replicate then I would prioritize that to bring it to Trumbull County. Such as several counties when recording documents, give you back the original document and certified copies immediately and other counties such as Trumbull require the citizens to come back a day or two later to pick up the certified copies or have them mailed out.
I understand you already work full-time as a home healthcare nurse, what are your plans for the job if you win this election?
Retire from nursing and be a full time Recorder.
In a race where you’re going against someone with two terms of experience and a business background through his time as a bank manager and degree, what gives you the upper hand over your candidate (i.e. Why should people vote for you? What x-factor do you bring to the table?)
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from YSU. I managed several successful medical practices which require accurate medical records. If mistakes are made in this field, it could be a matter of life and death. My opponent did not want to be recorder 2 years ago when he ran for county auditor and was soundly defeated by a republican. The big difference between myself and my opponent is that I am a Republican. I support republican values such as pro-life, pro-family, pro-police, and smaller government and I am voting for Donald Trump. My opponent is a democrat and the democrats support abortion, illegal immigration, open borders, endless wars, and the transgender movement being pushed on our kids, he is voting for Harris. Democrats have held the recorder’s office for over 50 years, it’s time for a change. I intend to bring Conservative values and a Republican voice not only as the county recorder, but also as an influence in the operations of our county government when and wherever possible, including championing a movement to lower Trumbull County property taxes. I have never backed away from a challenge, and that is evident in building a business in a predominantly male world.
